7 Way Interclub Category Competition - Thursday 21st March 2019.
On Thursday 21st March 2019, Ashington Camera Club hosted the 7 Way Interclub Projected Digital Image Category
Competition at St Aidan's Parish Hall, Station Road, Ashington. In this annual competition each of the seven clubs in
the Northern Area were invited to enter 10 images with not less than 1, and no more than 2 images to be submitted
in each of the following categories - Landscape, Interiors, Portraits, Sport & Action, Photo Journalism, Flora & Fauna,
Still Life, and Fantasy, Myth, Legend or Religion.
Ashington had given the task of judging to Stephen Fowler of Ryton Camera Club who commented on all sixty images,
giving his opinion as to whether it matched the category in which it had been entered and then marking out of thirty.
David stated that the standard of work was very high and that there had been several contenders for his best image
resulting in two images gaining the maximum thirty marks. The scores for each clubs individual images were added
together and in a very close finish just one mark separated the top two. The final result was as follows,
1st.  Amble Photographic Group....................263 pts.
2nd. Blyth Photographic Society....................262 pts.
3rd.  Alnwick & District Camera Club .............258 pts.
4th.  Morpeth Camera Club...........................255 pts.
5th.  Ashington Camera Club.........................246 pts.
6th.  Cambois Camera Club ..........................239 pts.
*Wooler had again withdrawn this season.
The evening concluded with a raffle followed by an excellent buffet provided by the host club and a big thank you
to Ashington for their hospitality. Thank you also to Morpeth members who provided images but unfortunately they
were not to the judges taste on the night. Once again there were issues as to the eligibility of some images in the
category they were judged and this must be resolved between the host club and the judge before the competition
or with even more clarification between the clubs of the competition rules.
