7 Way Pdi Knockout Competition at Alnwick - Sunday 17th November 2019.

Morpeth Camera Club Knockout Trophy Winners.
On Sunday 17th November it was the turn of Alnwick & District Camera Club to host the Annual Northern Counties
Photographic Federation 7 Way Interclub PDI Knockout Competition. The seven clubs that make up the Northern
Area Group are expected to take part and in this event each club submits twenty digital images, fifteen to be shown
at any one time, together with five substitutes that may be used at each clubs discretion to either replace any low
scoring images in the previous round or to benefit from the judges leaning to certain subjects. These images are
viewed and scored live by a panel of three judges that this year consisted of David Stout, Malcolm Blenkey & David
Gowland, who each gave a mark out of five using an automatic scoring machine which then provided an immediate
total for each projected image.
We were informed that Wooler Camera Club had not entered so the six clubs in the first round were Alnwick, Amble,
Ashington, Blyth, Cambois and Morpeth with the four highest scoring clubs going forward to 'The Trophy' semi final,
leaving the two lowest scoring clubs to compete in 'The Plate' Competition. However when the marks from the first
round were announced, two clubs had tied for 5th place so it was decided that both clubs, together with the club in
6th place would move to 'The Plate' and that the clubs in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place would go through to the 'The Trophy'
semi-final.
In 'The Trophy' Semi-Final, Amble were eliminated leaving Morpeth and Alnwick to progress to the final. In a very
closely contested final, the lead changed hands several times before it was announced that Morpeth Camera Club
were the winners of the 2019 Pdi Knockout Trophy. Morpeth won with a score of 186 points. Alnwick came second
with 176 points and Amble was third with 175 points.
In the secondary 'Plate Competition' Blyth were the victors with Cambois runners up, followed by Ashington.
This was an excellent win for Morpeth and a thank you to the authors who allowed their images to be used in this
competition.
