Club Meeting, Members A.v. Evening - Tuesday 18th January 2022.

On Tuesday 18th January 2022, Morpeth Camera Club met to hold its annual Av (Audio Visual) evening where
members were invited to show some of their work, new or old. New presentations shown were on a wide variety
of subjects and Sue Dawson came up first with Angel Hosts. We enjoyed seeing images of Angels on Christmas
Trees, in paintings, statuary, in churches, ‘sometimes little angels’ small children and not forgetting the Angel of
the North.
Blyth Harbour Light by John Thompson followed with scenes of the beach in ever changing light; of the lighthouse,
leasure craft, fishing boats being followed by gulls, and people fishing, strolling and sitting admiring the view. All
captured at different times of the day, in sunshine, in mist and at sundown.
Stephanie Robson followed with a sequence entitled Summer 2021 featuring images taken throughout her travels
which included humorous posters, notices, old postage stamp machines, colourful beach huts and wall art.
Nature in Northumberland by Paul Appleby came next, with lovely images of wild orchids, clover, and poppies,
with macro shots of butterflies, bees, ladybirds, and dragonflies. Many varieties of fungi were followed by images
of Wheatear, Reed Bunting, Goldcrest and Sand Martins.
Glyn Trueman came next with images taken on club walks through Newcastle. With modern architectural patterns,
cityscapes, reflections of the campus buildings, the Baltic interiors and exhibitions, and the riverside bridges bathed
in evening light.
Davy Bolam then changed the mood with an Av entitled Magic; a fast-paced, dramatic depiction of stock car races,
near misses, spectators and crew. He followed on with an equally colourful collection of images in his second Av
entitled Faces, wonderful wall art of dogs, rabbits, eerie creatures, menacing, sinister, fierce and ghostly human
faces, which contrasted with dreamy portraits of beautiful girls and art nouveau representations.
Members were then given the opportunity to show some of their past work, with John Thompson’s Colours of Lowry.
Images captured of the colourful interior of the Lowry Museum in Salford, John presented them as framed pictures,
using gentle transitions between primary coloured images of angles, curves, pillars and stairs.
Sue Dawson’s Craster followed with scenes of the smokehouse, harbour, ropes, workshops, dunes and views over
to Dunstanburgh. Davy returned with an Av of the club’s summer walks to Amble, Rothbury, Northumberlandia,
Bolam Lake, Low Hauxley, Hartley Bay and Shaftoe Crags. The Av not only showed local scenery and landmarks
but images of club members enjoying the trips.
Stephanie Robson continued with her views of Scottish landscapes, shorelines, mountains, lochs and sunsets. Do
you Dream in Colour by Davy Bolam provided the audience with another blast of vibrant colour, with abstract shots
that were created by stylising trees, reflections, and architectural features.
Glyn Trueman concluded the evening with an Av of Newcastle Cathedral before its alterations began, documenting
the paintings, flags, ceilings, statuary, brasses, stained glass windows, and of the crypt and choir.

Club Co Chair, thanked all who had taken part and had provided so many different themes, styles and creativity,
after which refreshments were served.
