Club Report, Presidents Evening - Tuesday 20th January 2015.

On Tuesday 20th January 2015, members were treated to a talk by Life President of the club, Vince Rooker, EFIAP,
DPAGB, APAGB. Entitled "Camera Club Pictures ? ", Vince showed a selection of photographs taken throughout 2014 including
those taken on the clubs summer walks .

A diverse selection of images including colourful microlights, autogyros in flight, a Tiger Moth landing and a rare sighting of
a Hornet Moth were among the photographs Vince had taken on a visit to the Great North Fly In, an aviation event at Eshott
Airfield. Evening tidal reflections, Northumberlandia set against moody cloud formations, dramatic angles, lights and curves
of the Sage, Gateshead followed. On a Puffin Cruise around Coquet Island, he captured wave patterns, seals and action shots
of the inshore lifeboat.

At the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre at Conishead Priory in Cumbria, Vince recorded the serene atmosphere with
colourful images of Buddha’s and the temple interiors; dancers and musicians at a 40’s re-enactment, in Dublin the dramatic
Monument of Light steel spire, the modern exterior of the conference centre and sweeping angular bridges.

On his visits to his daughter who lives in Norfolk, Vince takes the opportunity to photograph flint churches, pastel beach huts,
stark landscapes over bird sanctuaries, windmills, brightly coloured cliffs, steam engines, glass workers and the sunset in Hunstanton.

Vince displayed his enthusiasm for photography with images of shiny vintage cars, choirs, potters, shop windows, abstract
boat hulls, church interiors and gargoyles. From sculptures to Scottish seascapes, from the WWI war graves and memorials
in France to stunning still life images taken in his front room, he again showed that he has an eye for an image and with his
eclectic mix of subjects he certainly displayed his love of photography providing a very enjoyable evenings entertainment.

To end the evening Davy Bolam announced the results of the Christmas Holiday Picture Quiz which he compiles each year as
a bit of fun over the holiday break, awarding a prize for the member who can identify the most locations. He had taken twenty
four images of local interest within a twenty mile radius of Morpeth and participants were asked to identify the main subject
and its location. This year, not only club members took part but several people from further afield entered having seen the
quiz on the club website. The overall winner was club member John Thompson who had correctly identified twenty one of the
twenty four images.

Club Chairman, Steve McDonald thanked Vince and Davy for yet another very interesting club meeting.
