Summer Walk No 3, The Hoppings,Town Moor, Newcastle - Tuesday 21st June 2016.

On Tuesday 21st June 2016, a small number of members met with cameras, lenses and tripods to capture the colour and
action of the 134th “Hoppings Fair", on Newcastle’s Town Moor. This is an annual event is said to be the largest travelling
funfair in Europe, with something like 300 attractions and stretching about half a mile from end to end.
Club members met at the south entrance and then walked around the moor in brilliant sunshine, taking the opportunity to
capture images of some of the big exciting rides together with old favourites such as the Carousels, Waltzers, & Big Wheel, numerous children’s rides, smaller stalls and food kiosks.
About half way through the evening a few brave members took the opportunity to ride on the Giant Wheel, taking some
different images of the fairground from above, whilst enjoying views over Newcastle in the clear evening light.
As the sunlight began to fade we were able capture images featuring the lights on the stalls and rides and experimented
with using slow shutter speeds to obtain images featuring light trails as the rides moved through the air.
Thank you to those who made the effort to attend making it an enjoyable evening.
