Annual General Meeting Season 2023/24 - Tuesday 30th April 2024.

On Tuesday 30th April, the Morpeth Camera Club held their Annual General Meeting, marking the penultimate
gathering of the 2023/24 season. The event was a resounding success, with the club's chairman, Peter Downs,
outlining many of the season's highlights, and committee members delivering excellent reports on the various
activities and competitions related to their roles in the day-to-day running of the club. Perhaps most notably,
the club is in a strong financial position, meaning there will be no increase in subscriptions or weekly fees in
the foreseeable future. The club has a healthy membership and is attracting new members which is a good
indicator as we look forward to an active and exciting new season of photography.

After the official business was concluded, members were treated to a presentation of stunning images from
the 2024 GB Cup, a national camera club competition organized by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain,
(PAGB). Led by Glyn Trueman, we saw a collection of re-enactment portraits in stark monochrome and colour,
as well as various sporting events such as polo, boxing, athletics, motorcross, horse racing, white water rafting,
tennis and athletics.

The show also featured stunning landscapes and seascapes, including images of sea ice and sunsets, lighthouses
battered by giant waves, lone trees in a misty dawn, lush woodland, mountains, night skies, and glowing sunsets.
Still life and life models, people at work, dancers, interiors of cathedrals and art galleries, spiral staircases, lines,
curves, and glass reflections of modern architecture, bridges, fantasy portraits, and strange surreal mythological
figures. The evening concluded with a light-hearted discussion followed by coffee.
