Club Exchange, Morpeth C.C. visit Blyth P.S. - Thursday 12th December 2019.

On Thursday 12th December, Morpeth Camera Club visited Blyth Photographic Society to entertain their members
as part of a reciprocal agreement where Blyth will visit Morpeth next year. Club exchanges are an excellent means
to show your work to a new audience and get feedback from fellow photographers. On a very wet evening ten
Morpeth members were in attendance and nine of them showcased a wide range of subject matter through Pdi's &
Audio Visual presentations. Morpeth Vice-chair Sue Dawson thanked Blyth for their invitation and warm welcome,
stating that we were all looking forward to showing our kind of photography.

Davy Bolam opened the evening with an A.V. presentation of the 2019 Camera Club Summer Walks. All images were
in the square format and in six minutes we were taken to Warkworth, Shaftoe Crags, The Farne Islands, and Morpeth.
Then on to Cullercoats, Fontburn Reservoir, North/South Shields and Blyth Battery before ending at Rimside Gibbet.

Steve Perry followed with a selection of travel images taken on a visit to Singapore. In a whistle-stop tour we were
shown the amazing architecture of the Marine Bay Sands Hotel. Strange statuary, vibrant colours of street markets
and a short video of the famous lightshow at the "Gardens by the Bay", were a small part of an interesting travelogue.

Stephanie Robson then slowed things down with a beautiful and relaxing audio visual sequence entitled Scotland.
Images of pine forests, wildlife, lochs, hills & mountains, leading down to small rocky coves, sandy beaches, isolated
cottages and colourful boats were all set to a very appropriate soundtrack.

Dave Bisset was next and stated that he likes to photograph unusual things and then mess around with them on
his computer to achieve something different. Included in his presentation were macro shots of glass paperweights,
images of eroded rocks where faces appeared and surreal images of clouds that all showed great imagination.

Karin Jackson, had just returned from China and had put together a selection of images from Guilin in South Chinas
Guagxi region. Sun and Moon Pagodas at Banyan Lake, cormorant fishermen on the River Li and limestone peaks of
the Karst mountains were just some of the highlights of her presentation.

Sue Dawson then followed with a short talk on the theme of churches as she explained the trials and tribulations of
this genre of photography. Cathedral and church interiors featuring stained glass windows, ornate ceilings, religious
statues, alters and cloisters had all been recorded in stunning detail.

Looking at things a little differently was the theme of Peter Downs presentation where he showed a selection of Pdi's
that had all been adjusted in Photoshop and Nik effects to great effect. Landscapes, seascapes, buildings and flowers
were among the subjects featured in his altered reality show and tell.

Recent new member John Willmore had visited the Durham Miners Gala and then produced an excellent audio visual
show that concentrated on the people and characters involved. Set to rousing brass band music he had succeeded in
capturing the spirit of this annual event.

Glyn Trueman closed with a selection of his wildlife images that included Puffins and guillemots at the Farne islands.
Architectural images also featured in his work and by using different techniques that included vertical panoramas, fish
eye lenses and post processing, he had accentuated both shape and form for some unusual shots.

At the end of the evening Morpeth members were thanked for providing such an amazing variety of subject matter and
for sharing skills and techniques during their presentations. The hosts then provided tea and coffee with an excellent
buffet supper to end a successful evening. We look forward to Blyth visiting Morpeth in the new year.
