Virtual Meeting, NCPF Awards & Portfolios - Tuesday 29th September 2020.
On Tuesday 29th September 2020, Morpeth Camera Club held the first (virtual) meeting of the new season. As all
physical meetings have been cancelled due to the restrictions imposed during the ongoing pandemic, the club held
it's the first-ever online meeting.
Members were able to view the results of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation Awards & see the images
selected for the Alliance Portfolios. Members from 32 clubs entered work into this year’s Pdi competitions, there was
a total of 885 images submitted into the Open Section and 103 images into the Jane Black Trophy for Beginners. 27
clubs had competed for the Myles Audas Memorial Trophy and a group of NCPF Listed Judges had selected the award
winning images, including winning club entries, Highly Commended work and selections for the Alliance Competitions.
A Selectors Choice Portfolio was then judged by a further panel of NCPF judges who selected images designed to reflect
the work of individual Federation members.
The audience viewed a wide variety of excellent portraits, delightful children, lovely young women and age weathered
old characters. An abundance of birdlife featured, from Goshawks, Bunting, sparrow hawk, curlew, buzzards, and bee
eaters. Images of Damselflies, field mice and hare contrasted with cheetahs, giant otter, buffalo, polar bears and zebras.
Lovely landscapes followed of Harris Beach, Rannoch Moor, Lakeland and pastoral scenes, and stunning icebergs glowing
in the dawn light. Clowns, Modern interiors, abstract patterns, dancers, mysterious fantasy images, street photography,
gymnasts, rugby players, dramatic astral photography and still life were all among the excellent images entered.
A Summary of the results that cover the Morpeth Camera Club entries with marks and awards are as follows:
Myles Audas Memorial Trophy for the Best Club Entry of six Pdi’s; Morpeth Camera Club – 7th with 70 marks (Highest
