Summer Walk Report   1 - Blyth Battery, Blyth, 20th May 2012.

The first visit on the Morpeth Camera Club Summer Walks Programme was held on Sunday 20th May 2012 ,
when members attended the "Blyth Battery goes to War" event at South Beach, Blyth.
Bright sunshine welcomed us as we met at 11am and walked around the displays of weapons and military equipment
provided by the numerous re-enactment groups.
The friendly and informative personnel taking part, were photographed as they walked around the site in authentic British,
German and American uniforms of the period.
One of the main highlights of the day was the battle re-enactment where members of all the military groups,
dressed as opposing forces, met on the dunes to defend & attack the beachhead in a battle to the end.
A running commentary of events, the sound of gunfire, explosions, smoke and then a german tank joining the battle,
led to plenty opportunities for photographs.
This was an excellent demonstration, set against the background of the war time Searchlight Battery Buildings.
A very good turn out to a different kind of camera club visit, made it a good start to the summer programme.
Thank you to all who attended.
