Morpeth Camera Club at Rothbury Vintage Event - Sunday 29th June 2014.

On Sunday 29th June 2014, Morpeth Camera club members were invited to photograph a Vintage Themed Event
held at Rothbury in Northumberland. This request had come from the Rothbury Womens Institute who had organised
the day in aid of the Stephen Carey Fund.
The Steven Carey fund is an organisation which aims to improve the awareness of emergency first aid skills and
raises money to purchase and install public access defibrillators in memory of Stephen, 21 yrs, who died from an
undiagnosed heart condition whilst playing for for Alnmouth village football club.
A group of Morpeth Camera Club members responded to this request and offered their services to photograph as
many aspects of the day as possible and donate their images to a record of the event.
Vintage cars, emergency vehicles, military vehicles and a flypast from RAF Boulmer got things underway, whilst
crowds visited the craft and food stalls set up on the streets. Shops, churches, and galleries all joined in with displays
of vintage memorabilia and items for sale. Practical demonstrations of painting, needlework and pottery making took
place around the town, whilst antique valuations, tea rooms and amazing home made food was also on offer.
Musical entertainment was provided by a 40'S style singer and the W.I.'s own Swinging Hinnies choir.
An enjoyable day had by all the latest update looks like they are well on the way to reaching their £10,000 target.
A big thank you from the organisers to those who attended. Lots of remarks ref the Camera Clubs presence and we
seem to have made good impression, with members complimented on their friendly and polite manner with everyone.
Look forward to seeing everyone's images and deciding the best way to show our results.
