Summer Walk, Newcastle Hoppings - Tuesday 26th June 2018.

The second walk of Morpeth Camera Clubs summer programme took place on Tuesday 26th June with a trip to "The
Hoppings" on the outskirts of Newcastle. This is an annual event where the showmen & their families come from all
over the country to gather on Newcastle's Town Moor transforming this usually tranquil green space into the largest
travelling fair in Europe. The warm and sunny weather was very welcome as members wandered around enjoying the
unique atmosphere of the event. The aim of the evening was to capture the colours and people whilst looking for that
"something different" image. It was very easy to become detached from the group as things caught the eye and most
went their separate ways to explore and look for images. Members of other camera clubs also had the same idea and
it was nice to see some familiar faces walking around. As the daylight fades the fairground rides become a spectacular
subject for slow shutter speed and long exposure images using a tripod. This kind of photography is an excellent way
of getting to know your camera, where using manual settings to record movement and action can yield images not
seen by the naked eye. Thank you to those who attended and look forward to seeing your results.
