Club Meeting, 4 Way Interclub Competition - Tuesday 16th November 2021.

On Tuesday 16th November Morpeth Camera Club members met in the methodist church to view a live streaming via
zoom of part one of a two-part 4-Way Interclub Competition, that was this year hosted by Gosforth Camera Club. In this
round Morpeth, Gateshead, Gosforth, and Cramlington camera clubs were required to enter ten projected digital images
which were to be commented upon and then given a mark out of Thirty by George Ledger ARPS, DPAGB, a professional
photographer from Consett and District Photographic Society.

Being an open competition, entries included Interiors, landscapes, natural history, still life, sport, studio portraits, and
street photography. The judge opened by saying that with such a range of subject matter how does one compare one
genre with another and explained that he has his own benchmark and when it comes to awarding marks it was down
to his own personal choice. In his view, good judges have to be active photographers so that they can appreciate what
has been involved in the process of capturing the moment.

The forty images entered into the competition were projected onto a large screen and George offered his personal
observations with constructive comments where relevant before announcing his individual scores. This evening provided
us with a good opportunity to see some of the best photographic images produced by other clubs and our thanks go to
Glyn Trueman, Sue Dawson, Davy Bolam, Steve McDonald, Trevor Langhorne, and Brian Morris whose images made up
the Morpeth entry. The highest scoring Morpeth image was Calm Morning at Cresswell by Davy Bolam with 27 marks.
When all the marks had been totaled the result was as follows, in First place was Gosforth with 249 marks, Cramlington
Second with 228 marks, Morpeth Third with 212 marks and Gateshead Fourth with 203 marks.

The host chairman thanked George on behalf of all the clubs for his constructive comments and we look forward to part
two of the competition in February 2022 when each club will enter ten prints and the scores from both competitions will
be added together to find the trophy winner.
