4 Way Interclub Competition at Gateshead - Thursday 17th November 2022.
On Thursday 17th November 2022, It was Gateshead Camera Club's turn to host the Annual 4 Way Interclub
Competition at Gateshead Rugby Football Club, Hedley Lawson Park in Gateshead. In this contest Gateshead,
Morpeth, Cramlington and Gosforth Camera Clubs had each submitted ten digital images on any subject and
Keith Suddaby FRPS MPAGB EFIAP FBPE, had been invited to view and comment on all images before giving
a mark out of thirty.
The judge then described each image as it appeared on the screen, stating what the subject matter had said
to him before giving appropriate comments and on occasion suggesting things that may be done to improve
the image. Keith stated that although he had expected a high standard of work in an Interclub Competition,
he had been surprised with the number of natural history images among the forty entries and he selected
Osprey with Brown Trout and Kingfisher with Catch from Gosforth Camera Club, as his top images each
gaining the maximum thirty marks. At the end of the evening the totals were as follows -
Gosforth Camera Club....................286 marks.
Morpeth Camera Club....................258 marks.
Gateshead Camera Club................257 marks.
Cramlington Camera Club.............255 marks.
This was a very poorly attended event and questions have to be asked about its future as issues were
raised including that no one attended from Gosforth Camera club and the lack of tea or coffee and food
which the rules state should be provided by the host club.

As this was Part One of a Two Part Competition we now look forward to February 2023 when the clubs meet
again for the second leg where the Colour and Monochrome Print entries will be judged. The marks from both
competitions are then added together to find the overall winners who will receive the 4 Way Trophy.
