7 Way Interclub Pdi Knockout Competition - Sunday 20th November 2022.

On Sunday 20th November 2022, it was the turn of Morpeth Camera Club to host the annual Northern Counties
Photographic Federation 7 Way Interclub PDI Knockout Competition. The seven clubs that make up the Northern
Area Group are expected to take part and, in this event, each club submits twenty digital images, fifteen to be
shown at any one time, together with five substitutes that may be used at each clubs discretion to either replace
any low scoring images in the previous round or to benefit from the judges leaning to certain subjects. These
images are all viewed and scored live by a panel of three judges that this year consisted of Alan Porrett ARPS
DPAGB APAGB EFIAP, Peter Maguire LRPS CPAGB EFIAP and David Ord, who each gave a mark out of five using
an automatic scoring machine, which then provided an immediate total out of fifteen for each projected image.

We were informed that Cambois Camera Club had withdrawn as they were unable to provide an entry, leaving
six entrants in the competition, Blyth, Morpeth, Amble, Alnwick, Ashington and Wooler camera clubs. In a very
close first round Alnwick, Morpeth, Blyth and Ashington progressed to the 'The Trophy' semi-final as the four
highest scoring clubs, leaving the two clubs with the lowest scores, Wooler and Amble, to compete in 'The Plate'
Competition.

In 'The Trophy' Semi-Final, Alnwick and Morpeth went through to the final as the two highest scorers, leaving
Blyth in third place with Ashington fourth. In a very close final, we saw some excellent images from both clubs
before it was announced that the winners of the 2022 Pdi Knockout Trophy were Alnwick with a score of 192
marks with Morpeth as runners up with 188 marks. Alnwick also had the highest scoring image as 'Smoke gets
in your Eyes' by Karen Broom received 15 marks.

In the secondary 'Plate Competition' Amble had the edge over Wooler in another enjoyable contest. Following
the raffle, Morpeth Vice-Chair Peter Downs presented the trophies and thanked the three judges for their essential
contribution to a successful contest. The afternoon concluded with a pooled tea and refreshments at an enjoyable
and well attended event.

Big thank you to the Morpeth members who allowed their images to be used in the contest and for a great
team effort by those who set up the room, assisted with running of the contest, covered the scoring and admin,
ran the raffle and presented the excellent buffet tea with refreshments.
