Club Meeting, Awards & Presentation Evening - Tuesday 7th May 2024.

On Tuesday, 7th May 2024, the Camera Club concluded their regular meetings for the 2023/24 season with their
annual awards and presentation evening. This event celebrates the photographic work of its members. During the
meeting, the Competition Secretary, Davy Bolam, presented a new Audio Visual show that showcased entries from
this season's competitions, images submitted to the website gallery, a small number of new and unseen pictures
and favourites from the club archive. Set to an appropriate musical soundtrack, images featuring portraits of club
members, architecture, birds and flowers, castles, creative impressions, treescapes, local views, lakes, lochs,
landscapes and seascapes, were crafted together into an enjoyable presentation.

The Awards ceremony followed as the competition secretary briefly explained the points system used to establish
the winners before listing the club’s seven trophies. The top images in each category were then projected followed
by the announcement of the titles and author. Club Chairman Peter Downs then presented the award winners with
their well-deserved trophies and certificates


The Bates Cup - Awarded to the winner of the Pdi Landscape Competition.

The Browell Trophy - Awarded to the winner of the Pdi Natural History Competition.

The Colour Cup - Awarded to the Colour Print Worker of the Year.

The Camera Trophy - Awarded to the Monochrome Print Worker of the Year.

The Pdi Shield - Awarded to the Pdi Worker of the Year.

Davy concluded by saying that in competitions this year, 22 different members entered 90 monochrome prints, 118
colour prints and 198 Pdi’s in the competitions offered to an outside judge and thanked everyone who supported the
competitions. Club Chairman, Peter Downs thanked Davy for providing a very entertaining audio-visual club show &
a comprehensive account of the club members' achievements over the past year. As is usual for the final meeting, a
pooled buffet supper was enjoyed, bringing another successful season of photography to a close.

After a short break, it is hoped that a programme of informal summer walks to local places of interest will be announced
and advertised through the club website and members' newsletter.
