7 Way Interclub Knockout Competition - Sunday 12th January 2025.
(*Morpeth Camera Club travelled to Wooler CC who hosted this season's 7 Way Pdi Knockout Competition on
Sunday 24th November 2024. For the first time in a few years, all seven clubs from the northern area (Blyth,
Ashington, Morpeth, Cambois, Alnwick, Amble & Wooler), had submitted an entry but the afternoon was beset
with many IT and operator problems and eventually abandoned after several hours with only round one being
completed. Representatives from each club then decided to reschedule the competition to January 2025).
On Sunday 12th January clubs returned to The Cheviot Centre in Wooler for the Northern Counties Photographic
Federation (NCPF) 7-Way Interclub PDI Knockout Competition. The seven clubs that make up the Northern Area
Group are expected to participate in this event. Each club submits twenty digital images, with fifteen displayed
at any one time, along with five substitues that can be used at the club's discretion. These subs can replace any
low-scoring images from previous rounds or take advantage of the judges' preferences for certain subjects. All
images were viewed and scored live by a panel of three NCPF judges: Glen Lawson, Rob Butler and Geoff Green.
Each judge assigned a score out of five using an automatic scoring machine, which then provided an immediate
total for each projected image.
*It had been decided that we would continue from the point where things went astray at the first meeting and
that scores from Round One would stand, so this resulted in Amble, Morpeth, Alnwick and Cambois going into
'The Trophy' semi final, leaving the three clubs with the lowest scores Ashington, Blyth and Wooler to compete
in 'The Plate' section.
In 'The Trophy' Semi-Final, Amble and Morpeth went through to the final as the two highest scorers leaving
Alnwick in third place and Cambois fourth. In a closely contested final, the lead changed hands several times
before it was then announced that the winners of the 2024 Pdi Knockout Trophy were Amble with Morpeth as
runners up. In the secondary 'Plate Competition' Blyth had the edge over Ashington with Wooler close behind.

to complete their obligations to run the competition to its conclusion).
