Club Meeting, Members Diptych Evening - Tuesday 3rd February 2026.

Morpeth Camera Club met on Tuesday 3rd February to view entries submitted for our Diptych Evening. Members
were invited to submit five diptych images to be viewed and commented upon by the audience. The aim being
was to try something which many of us have not tried before, to provide an opportunity to showcase one’s work
in slightly different way and to use our imaginations when learning new image editing techniques. Print Secretary,
Glyn Trueman led the evening and eleven members took up the challenge, entering fifty-six images.

These included stained glass, Islamic ceilings, flora, industry, sunsets, a scarecrow, skeletal trees, The Cutter at
Woodhorn, a rainbow and the Glass House. Members had used a variety of techniques; using a high key version
of the subject or a brick wall as a background, split and flipped images, showing one subject from different angles,
intentional camera movement, neon filters and inverted colours, the use of bevels and dropped shadows, artistic
and brushstroke applications and a combination of portrait and landscape versions of the subject.

Following on we saw bikes in different colours, sunflowers in the style of VanGogh, Newcastle’s riverside, stormy
and calm seas, skeletal trees, the Couple at Newbiggen, cloudy and blue skies, vibrant abstract patterns, elements
of the Angel of the North, colourful church mosaics, action shots of a dog playing in the sea and fungi taken from
differnt angles. Glyn thanked all who had entered for fousing on a wide variety of view points and techniques.
Refreshments were then enjoyed after another interesting evening at the club.
