Club Meeting Vice Chairman's Challenge - Tuesday 7th April 2026

Morpeth Camera Club members met on Tuesday 7th to view the images which had been entered into the last of the three Vice Chairmans Challenges. This season, Vice Chairman David Moore had been charged with setting three tasks and this, the final one, was entitled ‘Numbers,’ and 17 members took up the challenge.
David had explained that each image entered must be related to or have some connection with a number, and could be shown in any orientation, presented in either colour or monochrome.

As usual there was a wide range of subjects, some humourous, and others with a twist. From shore birds, insects, Canada Geese, jigsaw pieces to turtle doves, power station chimneys and plane numbers. One member used the number 9 as a theme; of shells, flowers, toffees and playing cards. Of course, 4 Candles, to those who have long memories, raised a laugh among the audience.

We saw four-pack beer cans, locomotive identification, tram and telephone numbers, owls, finger digits, post box collection times and bluebells. The Wansbeck rowing boats, classic cars, seat numbers, a 6kg kettle bell, key numbers, railway gatepost signs, the Wallington clock and a tree identification tag were also included in this unusual mix of subject.

During the show some members chose to explain their camera settings and locations where their photographs had been taken. A Scrabble board, shop signage, a beloved sports car, golf course signs, fish eye lens images taken in the Baltic and Sage and fishing boats concluded the entries.

Club Chairman, Jeremy Cooper thanked David for his challenge.
Thanks went to Jeremy Cooper, Karin Jackson, Keith Pratt, Eric Anderson, Peter Downs, Pat Wood, Dave Bisset, Martin Goble, Natalie Wright, Glyn Trueman, Roseanne Robinson, Paul Appleby, Stephanie Robson, David Moore, Sue Dawson, Graham Sorrie, and John Thompson who took part in a very successful evening at the club after which refreshments were served.
