Club Meeting, 'A Feeling of Impressionism' - Tuesday 7th September 2021.

Following a successful programme of summer walks, Morpeth Camera Clubs new season of meetings
commenced on Tuesday 7th September 2021. The club returned to their regular venue at the Methodist
Church in Morpeth for a presentation by Guernsey-based fine art photographer Steven Le Prevost, FRPS,
AFIAP, MPAGB, FIPF.

Steve is well known for his creative photography and his presentation entitled 'A Feeling of Impressionism'
gave a clue of what was to follow as he explained that he uses textures to turn record images into artistic
compositions that he hoped would convey atmosphere, mood, and emotion.

He started the evening with images from his two RPS Fellowship panels and expressed the opinion that
working towards such a goal was a great way to study, assess and improve your own photography.

He went on to show how he photographed many everyday items such as walls, floors, paper, wood, sand,
glass etc and using these images made his own texture screens with the aim of combining them in photoshop
with his original record shots to create something new.

Steve showed examples of the process with before, during, and after shots and explained his use of layers
and blending modes to achieve the image he had planned. Composition and scale play a very important
part with careful planning to ensure that the foreground, middle distance, and sky are balanced, but he
commented that he really enjoyed compositional rule-breaking and tried to implement this as often as
possible when appropriate.

Stunning examples of Victorian Character studies, floral Still Life, and images on a Nautical theme were
shown as Pdi's and he explained that all his work was intended to be printed and that he had found that
Platinium Etching paper had enhanced his wish to create fine art prints of the highest quality.

Morpeth Camera Club chair Roseanne Robinson thanked Steve for opening the new season with an excellent
live zoom presentation and that after sixteen months it was great to resume in-person meetings at the church.
