Summer Walk Report   5 - "The Hoppings", Town Moor, Newcastle 26th June 2012.

On Tuesday 26th June 2012, Newcastle Town Moor was the venue as Morpeth Camera Clubs Summer Programme took
us on a visit to " The Hoppings ".
Dressed in waterproofs and wellingtons, it was going to take more than three or four inches of mud or a drop of rain,
to dampen the spirits of those attending Europe's Largest Travelling Funfair.
Waltzers, Dodgems, Galloping Horses, Helter Skelters, Bingo and Hook a Duck, all the Hoppings favourites were there,
small islands of refuge in a sea of mud & straw. Loud music, the smell of hot dogs, chips, candy floss and diesel oil,
all adding to the unique atmosphere of the moor.
With cameras on tripods, members used slow shutter speeds to capture the movement of the larger rides to good effect.
The characters of the smaller stalls, together with the prizes, colours and lights made good subjects for photography.
Amongst the thousands of visitors, the few who had not dressed for the elements provided some amusing sights,
but a good time seemed to be had by all despite the weather.
A great turn out by club members made walk number five a successful evening, thank you.
