Image Editing Evening - Instructions.
Morpeth Camera Club - Editing Challenge 2022
Following on from last season’s editing challenge it was suggested that we should hold another one this season.
Like last year the basic idea of this challenge is for us to have a go at editing up to 5 of the supplied images for
showing at the club’s meeting on Tuesday March 1st.
This intention is provide the opportunity for us to practice our editing skills, use our imaginations, and perhaps
have a try using some new editing techniques.
Instructions:
Download the images you wish to edit.
Edit them as you wish using any computer software you have available to use.
Save the images as JPEG files in the usual club format (max. 1400 pixels horizontal x 1050 pixels vertical).
Send a maximum of up to 5 edited images in total (from any combination of the original images supplied) to
the programme secretary by email (or We Transfer) by 8pm on Monday February 28th.
Email: glyn.trueman@lineone.net
Talk about what you have done to the images when they are shown at the meeting on March 1st. - If you are not
able to come to the meeting, please send some comments on your edits with the images.
Notes
The way in which you edit the images is entirely up to you. The changes can range from basic alterations to using
more complex techniques, whatever you feel works with the image you are editing.
Basic changes may include cropping, changing the shape or orientation of the photo, adjusting things like brightness,
contrast etc., and/ or converting the image to monochrome.
More complex changes you might consider trying, include moving, removing or changing individual elements in the
image, the use of filters, plugins etc. - for artistic effects, cloning out or duplicating elements within an image,
replacing skies in landscape images etc., or even combining elements from more than one of the supplied images
to create something new.
For those participating, this is an opportunity for us to use our imagination, to experiment and possibly to try and
learn new editing skills.
You do not need to be an editing expert to participate as some of the most simple and basic changes can be very
effective. So, even if you have limited experience at editing pictures, please have a go.
JPEG versions of the images for this challenge (in the usual club format) were forwarded to all members via email
on 9th February 2022. Go to your emails and download the images now.
