Virtual Meeting, 'An Evening with Shelia' - Tuesday 4th May 2021.
On Tuesday 4th May, Morpeth Camera Club held a virtual meeting with Sheila Haycox ARPS MPAGB/AV, EFIAP,
an award-winning photographer from Devon. Sheila is a highly accomplished photographer who specialises in
the production of audio-visual slide shows (AVs or videos). During her presentation entitled, ‘An Evening with
Sheila’, she showed many of her videos featuring a selection of her excellent photos.
After being introduced by the club chairman, John Barnes, Sheila started the evening by showing a beautifully
crafted, colourful and interesting slideshow depicting many aspects of rural life in Indo-China.

After that she went on to show several more high quality AVs. These varied considerably in their style and
subject matter, ranging from an AV showing landscape images of Tuscany to a natural history AV featuring
Costa Rican wildlife, including images of colourful frogs, snakes, bats and humming birds an AV with images
from a Jet Ski Competition.
As well as some AVs showing the creative side of her photography, Sheila also showed a number of interesting
documentary AVs that were linked with a story line, for example one about the Lock Ewe and the sailors that
sailed from there during World War II, protecting convoys travelling to Russia, and one about Venice and its
carnival. Others included, The story of Theresienstadt a concentration camp at Terezin 40 miles from Prague
in the Czech Republic and an AV about temple city of Angkor Wat in Cambodia - the largest city in the world
during the medieval age built between AD 802 and 1432.

Other sequences took us to Morocco, and wintery scenes mainly from Scotland set to Imagine, by John Lennon.
The highlight of the evening for many was a slide show where Sheila had illustrated the poignant poem written
by Tomos Roberts, ‘The Great Realization’ - A story explaining the how things have changed during 2020 due
to Covid-19.
At the end of the meeting the chairman, John Barnes and the club members thanked Sheila for a very enjoyable
evening. Anyone interested in seeing some of Sheila Haycox’s work shown during the evening can find them on
